Everything it does

The full tour — from pressing Start to holding a printed book of your trip. Every feature below ships in the app today.

Tracking

Press Start. Go.

MyTripKeeper records the route while you live the outing — phone in your pocket, screen off. It minds the battery, survives crashes, and pauses itself when you stop for the view.

🥾

13 activities — plus your own

Walk, run, hike, bike, drive, kayak, ski, snowshoe, skate, swim, horseback, motorcycle, boat. Or invent your own: name it, pick an icon and a colour, and it behaves like the type it’s based on.

🗺️

Live map & stats

Your route draws as you move — distance, time, pace or speed, and live altitude. Standard, hybrid or satellite map, app-wide.

⏸️

Smart auto-pause

Stop for a snack and the recording pauses itself; walk away and it resumes on its own. A pause you pressed yourself is never overridden.

🔋

Easy on the battery

High / Balanced / Saver GPS modes, tuned per activity, and Low Power Mode is respected automatically. A day of tracking shouldn’t cost you an evening of phone.

🛟

Crash-safe recording

The session checkpoints every 30 seconds. If the phone dies mid-hike or the app is force-quit, the next launch offers to recover the recording — nothing lost.

☀️

My Day

One tap in the morning starts a low-power, all-day trace of a travel day — where you wandered, no workout pretensions. It can live inside a trip as one of its days.

Gentle reminders

A “still paused?” nudge so you never drive home with a paused hike, and an optional morning “Start My Day?” for the dates you’re away.

Watch · Siri · CarPlay

On your wrist, your lock screen, your dashboard

The phone does the recording; everything else is a remote control. Start a hike from your watch, glance at the lock screen, tap Stop from the car.

Apple Watch companion

Start, pause and stop with a tap and a haptic. Live distance, time and altitude on the wrist — in your units — and you can pick which activity Start records.

🎤

Voice notes from the wrist

Tap the mic on the watch, talk, done. The note travels to the phone and lands in the right place — your recording, your trip, or your inbox for later.

🏝️

Live Activity & Dynamic Island

A live card on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island: distance, running clock, altitude — with real Pause, Resume and Stop buttons.

📱

Home-screen widgets

A this-week summary widget, and an interactive Tracking Controls widget with Start/Pause/Stop that works right from the home screen.

🚗

CarPlay ready

Pin the controls widget to the CarPlay dashboard. Starting from the car records a Drive automatically — or pin any activity you choose.

🗣️

Siri & Shortcuts

“Add a trail note in MyTripKeeper” drops a note where you said it, without breaking stride. Start, pause, resume and stop by voice; Shortcuts can start any specific activity.

Capture

Catch it while it’s happening

Every photo, clip, voice note and scribble is pinned to the exact spot on your route where it happened. That’s the whole point.

📸

A camera made for the trail

The in-app camera shows your activity and live stats in the viewfinder, fires multi-shot without closing, has lens-aware zoom pills, tap-to-focus, flash — and geotags every shot to your live position.

🎙️

Voice notes, transcribed

Record a thought; it’s transcribed on your device and pinned where you stood. Transcripts are searchable and editable.

📍

Waypoints

One-tap labeled markers — Viewpoint, Water stop, you name it. Finish a drive and a parking pin drops itself, so you can always find the car.

💬

Message moments

Keep the funny exchange as chat bubbles on your route. Type it in the app, or share text straight in from Messages or any other app.

🗒️

Dictate anywhere

Every note field has a mic: live speech-to-text where words land as you speak, with a level meter so you know it’s hearing you.

🖼️

Import from Photos

Photos you took with the regular camera land at their true place and time — the app reads the photo’s own location data, so shared pictures fit the story too.

Trips · Days · Stops

A vacation is more than its hikes

Trips gather everything — activities, days, moments between activities, and every stop along the way — into one map and one story.

🧳

Trips

Group activities into a trip — automatically while it’s active, or after the fact. One combined map, one timeline, one set of totals.

Moments

The dinner between hikes, the view from the hotel — capture photos, voice notes, written notes and messages between activities, pinned where you are.

🍽️

Stops of every kind

Meal, museum, show, movie, landmark, excursion, gas, charging, lodging, sporting event — with place search, cost, fuel or kWh, a 1–5 rating, who was there, photos, and a scanned receipt or ticket.

📅

Days inside trips

A My Day can live inside a trip — the trip’s totals and journal include it, and it can move out again whole, nothing lost.

🪄

Fill from Photos

Already took pictures outside the app? It scans your library for the trip’s dates and imports your picks as moments — no duplicates.

🕰️

Trip timeline

One chronological, day-grouped scroll of every photo, video, note and quote across the whole trip.

Relive & share

Brag beautifully

Replay any outing on the map, then share it the way it deserves — a story card, a journal page, a flyby video, or a whole month on one poster.

▶️

Route playback

Watch a marker retrace your route — the whole outing replayed in seconds.

🖼️

Recap cards

A share-ready story card: your route drawn on the map with stats, mood and companions — plus optional journal-style media cards with your best shots and quotes.

🎬

Flyby videos

A drone-style flight along your route as a shareable video — your photos animate in and your clips play, right where you took them.

🗓️

Month & year posters

Every route of the month on one poster; a year-end “Wrapped” with superlatives; a whole-trip poster too.

🧭

GPX in & out

Export any route as a standard GPX file; import GPX from other apps and devices. Your routes are never locked in.

🕶️

Privacy trim

“Hide start & end” trims the segments near home from shared cards — and from the exported GPX, so the file matches what you showed.

The journal

From trail to coffee table

One tap turns a trip into a print-ready book — and an AI recap writes the first draft of the story, privately, on your phone.

📖

Coffee-table journal PDF

Full-bleed cover, per-day openers, photo spreads, meal pages, moment galleries — in Editorial, Modern or Field designs, portrait or landscape. Print-ready.

✍️

AI trip recap

A written recap drafted from your routes, notes, moods, meals and voice-note transcripts — generated on your device by default (free, offline, private). Prefer Claude, ChatGPT or your own Ollama? Plug in a key. Always editable.

🎚️

Your voice, your cut

Choose the recap’s tone (factual → lyrical) and length, add guidance, and curate the book: exclude any item, or let “Pick Best Cover Photo” choose the cover for you.

📚

A real printed book

Save the print-ready PDF and order a bound copy from a print-on-demand service — the app walks you through it. A vacation you can put on a shelf.

Stats & delight

Numbers, for the curious

Not a training platform — but everything worth knowing about an outing is in there, with a few surprises.

⛰️

Elevation, splits & more

Elevation profile with gain and loss, per-kilometre splits, moving time, detected stops, max speed, steps and floors — all from the recording itself.

🌤️

Weather, daylight & the moon

The conditions during your outing, sunrise and sunset, golden hour — and yes, the moon phase, computed offline.

🎵

Soundtrack

What was playing on Apple Music while you rode. Tap a song later to play it again and go right back.

🤓

Fun facts

“That climb was 1.3 Eiffel Towers.” Landmark and animal comparisons, calories, and CO₂ saved versus driving.

🏆

Records, badges & goals

Personal bests per activity, a lifetime odometer, 15 badges, streaks, a monthly distance goal ring, and an “On this day” look back.

🔎

Search everything

Names, notes, tags, people, places, voice-note transcripts — even the text inside your photos, read on-device.

🧠

Photo intelligence

Live Text and Visual Look Up in the photo viewer, automatic scene tags, and an eye for your best shot — all on your device, never in a cloud.

Together

Shared trails, shared trips

Tag who was there, share the trip as a live group album, or let the folks at home follow along while you’re still out there.

🐾

Companions — pets included

Tag who was on the hike, from Contacts or by name — dogs get a paw avatar. A “Together” ranking shows who you’ve covered the most kilometres with.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Shared trips

Invite family into a trip — a live group album through iCloud. Everyone’s photos and moments merge into the story; their data never touches your personal stats.

📡

Follow along from home

Share view-only and the folks at home watch the trip fill in as it happens — without being able to change anything.

🥾

Hike together, record once

On a shared trip, when one of you starts recording, everyone else sees it — one phone records the route while the rest add photos and moments to the same story.

You stay in charge

See who’s on the trip and their access, invite more, remove someone, choose view-only vs can-edit, pause updates, or stop sharing entirely — the owner decides.

Yours & safe

Your data, in your hands

No account, no servers, no analytics — and every door out is wide open: backups, exports, standard formats.

🔒

Private by design

No account to create, no server of ours, no ads, no analytics. The developer cannot see your data — there is nowhere for it to go.

☁️

iCloud sync

Your devices stay in step through your own private iCloud. It heals itself after bad network days, shows you a plain-language health line, and has a Repair button for the truly stubborn day.

💾

Backups you own

One tap zips everything into a backup file you keep wherever you like; restore it on any iPhone. Export a single trip as a file and hand it to someone — it imports cleanly, even offline.

🌅

Apple Photos, optionally

If you want, every capture is also saved to your Photos library and grouped into an album per trip. Off by default — your call.

❤️

Watch workouts, imported

Recorded with the Watch’s Workout app instead? Import it from Health — route, heart rate and calories included, duplicates detected.

🌍

Three languages, all units

English, français (québécois!) and español, following your iPhone’s language — everywhere, including the journal PDF and Siri. Kilometres or miles, °C or °F.

Accessible

VoiceOver labels throughout, spoken stats and badges, Reduce Motion honored.
